Biden administration remains silent on safety of conservative justices; Senate Passes Bill To Improve Security – OutKick

A wave of pro-abortion activism has questioned the safety of conservative Supreme Court justices following the leak of Justice Samuel Alito’s drafted decision to overturn Roe vs. Wade.

Protests planned outside the residences of these justices over Mother’s Day weekend led the Senate to vote in a hurry on Monday in favor of the Supreme Court’s parity police law, which would strengthen security members of the Supreme Court.

Senators John Cornyn (R-Texas) and Chris Coons (D-Del.) introduced the law, which states that the safety of judges continues to be compromised and requires an immediate response as pro-abortion protests turn volatile.

“If the families of Supreme Court justices have the same profile and exposure as senior officials in our government, they deserve the same level of protection,” Senator Coons said.

OutKick founder Clay Travis reacted on Monday to the Senate’s urgent response, which remains concurrent with the Biden administration’s defiance to protect conservative Supreme Court members targeted for the deer decision.

“The Senate has just passed a bill to protect the families of Supreme Court justices for the first time ever. It would be nice if [Joe Biden] would condemn flight of opinion from the court and the violent extremists in his own party who make this protection necessary,” Clay tweeted.

Clay added, “What if Attorney General Merrick Garland says something too? He was quicker to label parents speaking out on school boards as domestic terrorists than he was to say a word about left-wing violence in response to Alito’s leaked opinion.

Press officer Jen Psaki previously said activists had the right to peacefully protest outside judges’ residences.

The Biden administration’s silence in condemning pro-abortion threats — including a recent arson case directed at a pro-life organization — failed to dissuade crowds from quieting their outrage.

“Threats to the physical safety of Supreme Court Justices and their families are shameful, and attempts to intimidate and influence the independence of our judicial system cannot be tolerated,” Cornyn noted in a statement. .

“I am pleased that the Senate quickly approved this measure to extend Supreme Court police protections to family members, and the House must pass and pass it immediately,” Cornyn said.
