‘He came in with cuts on his hands,’ says doctor who treated Aaftab Poonawala after murder

Delhi News Live Updates: Delhi Police have filed a plea in Saket Court to conduct a narco test on Aaftab Poonawala, the defendant in the Shraddha Walkar murder case. Meanwhile, a team of forensic experts inspecting the body parts of 27-year-old Shraddha, who was allegedly killed by her partner Aaftab Poonawala in Delhi, says the DNA collection process is a difficult task as the samples they got so far are old and the analysis would take at least two weeks.

A few days after Aaftab Poonawaala, 28, allegedly killed his girlfriend and cut her body into more than 30 pieces, he went to see a local doctor to treatment of “small wounds” on his hands, it can be learnt. The deceased, Shraddha Walkar (27), was killed in the couple’s rented house in Chattarpur Pahadi area on May 18 and his body parts were dumped in a nearby forest. Delhi police said Aaftab confessed to the murder and told them about a doctor’s visit. Delhi Police on Tuesday took Aaftab Poonawala to Mehrauli Forest where he allegedly dumped body parts of Shraddha Walkar.

Poonawaala was sent a notice of termination by email from his place of work around the same time Delhi police came to pick him up from his rented flat in Chattarpur Pahadi, The Indian Express has learned. Sources said that Poonawala had been working as a vertical customer service associate for a private company in Gurgaon for three months. A source said: “He started working in a call center shortly (7-15 days) after the murder.”
